Our Instructors

Joley

Joley has been instructing Pilates in regional WA since 2016, first creating Stem Pilates in Moora and now Alt+State. Joley and husband Marcus sought a beach lifestyle change for their four children in 2021 and Geraldton ticked all boxes.

After starting small in Geraldton teaching 1:1 students, Joley opened Alt+State Pilates in September 2022. In August 2024, Alt+State relocated & expanded to The Gerald Apartment Hotel.

Joley’s teaching style is ecclectic, often using visualisations and cues from the Franklin method of movement to educate clients on what is happening on a physiological level within movements. Breath is a core focus of Joley’s classes & plays a pivotal role in any Pilates workout - the breath is the link connecting body, mind & spirit.

Danielle’s active lifestyle and love for the outdoors requires her to be both strong and flexible. She completed her Pilates training in 2022 with Breathe Education and runs 10+ Pilates Classes per week at Alt+State. Danielle’s classes are a blend of functional training with Pilates principals - a real one stop shop for sculpting & improving flexibility!

Danielle

Cindy found Pilates 9 years ago after needing to rehab from her own injuries. Once Cindy experienced the difference, the vitality, freedom of movement, strength and flexibility that Pilates gave her, she knew she would never be without it. Cindy completed her Pilates training with Breathe Education & brings a wealth of knowledge to Alt+State. Cindy’s Stretch and Tone classes are particularly popular and offer a slower paced class, offering clients time to nourish & tap into what their bodies are needing on any day.

Denby

You’ve probably seen Denby in class. After her knee reconstruction a couple of years ago, she started Pilates to rehab it, first with her physio and then when she was strong enough, in our group classes at Alt+State.

She loved it so much, she decided to become an instructor.

When asked WHY Pilates? Denby says;

“Pilates makes me feel so strong and is also really great for my mental health. It sets me up for a great day! The community at Alt+State is amazing and everyone is there for the same reason - to feel good!”

Marcus

After graduating Curtin University in 2007, Marcus used his Physiotherapy degree to explore Regional WA from Bruce Rock and Moora in the Wheatbelt, to Kalgoorlie in the Goldfields, to Newman in the Pilbara.

Marcus’s current focus is furthering education for our instructors and being our in-house physio when questions arise.
